University of Virgin Islands Seeks STEM Director

The University of the Virgin Islands seeks a STEM Education Director for grant-funded STEM Education projects at UVI. The Director will lead a team of researchers, faculty, and teachers that comprise the Virgin Islands Institute for STEM Education Research and Practice (VI-ISERP), the workforce development effort of VI-EPSCoR, managing and coordinating VI-ISERPactivities including those of our Louis Stokes Research Center of Excellence project, the Florida-Caribbean Research Center of Excellence (FL-C RCE), both funded through NSF. This work will include leading efforts in STEM education research at the secondary and undergraduate level, supervising professional development activities for territorial STEM in-service teachers and undergraduate faculty, and supervising mentor training. The Director will be responsible for overseeing research projects, project reports, managing budgets, coordinating internal and external outreach efforts, including overseeing dissemination materials, supervising media press releases, collecting public relations materials, and organizing web-based materials. The Director will need to build collaborative relationships with the faculty, staff, in-service teachers, and partners affiliated with VI-ISERP and the FL-C RCE project, as well as with STEM stakeholders across the Territory. The Director will be a leader for pedagogical excellence, innovation, and inclusiveness at the institution working collaboratively to transform undergraduate STEM education and conduct transformative education research. This is a 12 month Research Faculty appointment with potential for renewal for an additional two years. After the first year, the Director will be expected to secure external funding to support 20% of their salary. The position includes UVI’s generous benefits package for healthcare and retirement.
