What can I do with my STEM degree?

The Purpose of the STEM Degree Pathways Tool

Each year there are thousands of students graduate with degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) disciplines across the United States. As some transitioned to graduate or professional schools throughout the world, many entered the workforce in a wide range of exciting careers.

To help current and prospective LSAMP students explore these numerous academic and career pathways in STEM, the STEM Degree Pathways tool was created.

Utilizing this tool, students can follow the individual journeys of LSAMP alumni in their similar field(s) of interest and build connections. To date, more than 200 LSAMP alumni from over 41 states and 35 LSAMP alliances have submitted their profiles to form this comprehensive database of paths by undergraduate STEM degree.

Programs and Opportunities for STEM Students

As you explore the alumni STEM pathways, you may see alumni mention a type of program or opportunity they had during their STEM journey. Opportunities to learn more about what each and where they occur in your academic career. Opportunities include Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs), Post-Baccalaureate Programs (Post-bacc), Fellowships, and Post-Doctoral Programs (Post-doc).

Connect with Others

Join the National Alliance Leading the Acceleration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (NALA), a group comprised of LSAMP alumnus who have formed a professional network of STEM professionals and graduate students. Through NALA you can get support from others with a shared background or experiences, build your professional network, and give back to those coming behind you through mentorship.

Inspire others by sharing your journey!

The STEM Pathways Tool website is updated twice per year. You are invited to contribute your STEM journey to share with other students. Submit your story by completing the online form.
