Seminar Objectives
During this first two-hour session of a two-part series, the speaker will provide an overview of the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Scholarship Program (referred to as McNair Scholars Program), timeline for preparing a proposal, and how to get started on the proposal.
McNair Scholars Program:
Broad Overview
Two Models
Services Must Provide vs Services May Provide
Prior Experience Points
How McNair differs from other program funding
Proposal Process Timeline:
Identifying Campus Partners
Getting Support from Senior Administration
Determining Data Needed
Getting Started with a Proposal:
Determining Need
Developing a Logic Model
Identifying Resources
Determining Who Will Write
Due the content heavy nature of the material for this seminar, the speaker will provide extra time at the end for a questions and answers session. In addition, the speaker will aim to regularly do temperature checks with the attendees to determine what areas they need more information on and allow time for discussion and engagement with the attendees. Following the seminar, the speaker will provide electronic copies of slides and handouts with the organizers to distribute to all attendees. Part II of this seminar will be delivered virtually on Friday, October 22, 2021, during the LSMRCE Annual Conference, October 22, 2021. Seminar attendees will be given complimentary conference registration to attend Part II of this session.
Resources for Participants
The 2022 RFP and proposal guidelines are not yet available, but we will use the 2017 call for proposals as our template.
