Date: 6/15/2020
Boise State is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working, independent, and creative thinker who is passionate about raptors, quantitative ecology, and conservation. Minimum Qualifications: a B.S. degree in Ecology, Integrated Biology, or a related field. Excellent communication skills.
The student will be advised by Dr. Jen Cruz (http://www.quantitativeconservationlab.com) to develop an independent project evaluating how competition impacts the joint recovery of raptor species in North America. The student will have the freedom to tailor research questions based on mutual interests, although they are expected to include a strong quantitative component in their work.
Support includes
a 9-month graduate teaching assistantship support (50 % T.A.) and summer research support renewable for up to three years, a tuition and fee waiver, health insurance, and funding for conference attendance.
To apply:
Please email Dr. Jen Cruz at
jencruz@boisestate.edu
with the subject line “MS application”, a single file attachment (include your full name in the file name) that includes: (1) a cover letter that highlights research interests generally and also relevant to this position, relevant qualifications and experience, and future career goals; (2) a CV that includes contact information for three references, and (3) unofficial transcripts.
Applications are due by June 12th, 2020.
Online interviews of a select pool of applicants are expected the following week, and the finalists will be invited to submit a formal application to Boise State’s Raptor Biology M.S. program by June 19th, 2020. Admission must be approved by the Graduate Dean. The position is part of a late-admission process, and is expected to start in August, 2020. Unfortunately, due to current uncertainty, only applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents will be accepted for this position. The Biology Department at Boise State University: The M.S. in Raptor Biology graduate program at Boise State University offers a wide diversity of courses in ecology and provides unique mentorship and training opportunities to enhance students’ understanding of raptor biology and ecology. The position provides access to a network of valuable connections in academia, federal and state agencies, nonprofits and NGOs, as well as international organizations, all dedicated to providing transformative research and educational experiences suitable for diverse career opportunities.
