The College of Engineering & Science and the ReBUILDetroit Program is seeking a Budget and Program Manager to manage administrative activities and budget for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded ReBUILDetroit program. ReBUILDetroit (Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity) seeks to enhance the diversity of NIH-funded research scientist workforce (see ReBUILDetroit.org). University of Detroit Mercy is the lead institution in a consortium with research partner Wayne State University and pipeline partner Henry Ford College. The ReBUILDetroit Budget and Program Manager is responsible for coordinating grant budgeting and subcontract distributions, scholar stipends and tuition awards, editing and ensuring reporting documents are accurately prepared and submitted in a timely manner, and coordinating between the four core areas of the program to facilitate achievement of the program’s goals.

The ReBUILDetroit Budget and Program Manager will interface with each partner institution on a regular basis and must be knowledgeable in grants administration and budgeting. The Budget and Program Manager will need to acquire an understanding of the NIH BUILD program requirements, including NIH reporting, and University procurement and reimbursement policies and procedures. The Budget and Program Manager will devote 12 calendar months (100% effort) and will work collaborative with the NIH, and University grant, finance, and institutional research personnel.

This a grant-funded position through July 1, 2024. We hope to sustain the position beyond grant funding. The successful candidate will be self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and a strong communicator, with academic grant administrative experience and a commitment to supporting diversity initiatives. The candidate should have skills in collaborating with faculty, staff and administrators from a variety of disciplines and support areas.

Michigan's largest, most comprehensive private University, the University of Detroit Mercy is an independent Jesuit-Mercy Catholic institution of higher education sponsored by the Society of Jesus and the Religious Sisters of Mercy. The US News and World Report ranked Detroit Mercy in the top tier in the Midwest. The university seeks qualified candidates who will contribute to the University's mission, diversity and excellence of its academic community. The University of Detroit Mercy is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer with a culturally diverse faculty and student body and welcomes persons of all races and backgrounds.

Candidates should apply by completing an application and upload materials at https://udmercy.peopleadmin.com/. Materials should include a resume, a cover letter, and contact information for three references. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
