Homeland Security Explosives Detection Research Opportunity

We have a unique research opportunity for graduating students and post graduates with magnetic resonance spectroscopy experience. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to be part of an exclusive group of scientists to determine the feasibility of using nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) for fielded detection and for supporting test and evaluation of commercially developed NQR-based explosives detection systems.

Being selected for a research opportunity with the Transportation Security Laboratory offers the following benefits: • Full-time one year appointment that may be extended contingent upon project needs and funding availability • Competitive stipend for living and other expenses during the duration of the appointment • Direct exposure to and participation in projects and activities in DHS mission-relevant research areas • Identification of career goals and opportunities • Development of professional networks with leading scientists and subject matter experts

Eligibility • Be a U.S. citizen • Have received or expect to complete all requirements for a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Solid State Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field by the desired start date. • Eligible disciplines include computer sciences, engineering, mathematics and statistics, other physical sciences, and physics.
