Virtual Poster Competition

Calling all undergraduate and graduate student researchers! The asynchronous virtual competitive poster session is an opportunity to share and learn about the research being done by undergraduate and graduate students across the STEM community.

The virtual poster session will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 24, at 2:00 PM ET.

Two students chat in a student poster session.

Non-Competition Poster Option Available!

For students who did not have the opportunity to conduct research over the past year, we welcome posters about your LSAMP experience. What did hope to learn or gain from your experience? What did you learn? How do you think what you learned will help you? What are your next steps in your STEM journey? Be creative! These posters are eligible for the "People's Choice" award.

How to submit: Use the poster abstract submission button at the bottom of this page. Follow the abstract guidelines as best you can.

Deadline: Non-research poster abstracts are due Friday, October 8th. The final poster material uploaded deadline is Tuesday, October 19.

What does asynchronous mean?

Students will upload their poster file and a recorded video of them presenting their poster by October 11th. Judges will score posters and video presentations the week of Oct 15-21.

Then on Saturday, October 23rd, students will logon to the poster session and answer questions about their poster in the discussion area that are posted by conference attendees. There will be no live presentation of your poster during this time.

Who should submit?

Undergraduates, post-baccalaureates, graduate students, fellows, and post-docs who are conducting research in any of the following areas: biological sciences, computer sciences, engineering sciences, environmental sciences, mathematical sciences, physical sciences (Astro, Chemistry, Physics), socio/behavioral sciences, or technology.

**ATTENTION: Due to lack of opportunities for students to conduct in-person research in 2020-2021, LSMRCE is accepting abstracts still in the early/planning phase of research. Do not hesitate to submit. Just be sure to follow the abstract guidelines! **

What do presenters get?

If your abstract is selected for presentation, an email invitation will be sent to you by September 25, 2021.

All poster presenters receive:
  • Complimentary conference registration ($75 value)
  • Professional development skill building (priceless)
  • Opportunity to network with thought leaders in Industry and Higher Education (priceless)

Compete for cash prizes!

The virtual poster session is a competitive session for cash prizes. The top 5 undergraduate posters and the top graduate student poster wins cash prizes. Prize amounts will depend upon the number of conference registrants.
