PROFESSIONAL SESSIONS
The Louis Stokes Midwest Regional Center of Excellence (LSMRCE) annual conference, “Building a Diverse STEM Talent Pool: Classrooms to Careers,” will be held October 25-27, 2019, at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel Keystone at the Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana.
CALL FOR PROPSALS
We are currently accepting proposals for following types of sessions that are rooted in the conference themes. The audience is faculty, administrators, and other professionals in the STEM/broadening participation community.
Types of Sessions:
- Breakout Sessions: Breakouts are 75-minute sessions (1h presentation & 15 minute Q&A).
- Roundtable Discussion: Roundtable Discussions are 75-minute sessions that offer presenters an opportunity to introduce a topic and facilitate discussions around the topic from various perspectives.
- Workshops: Professional development workshops are 2 hour sessions that are focused on a current issue within the conference themes. All workshops must include an interactive component.
Conference Themes: We encourage all submissions to include at least one of the following conference themes in the context of broadening participation of underrepresented minorities in STEM.
- Building a Community of Scholars
- Mentoring Future Leaders
- Research in STEM Education
- Leveraging Networks
Proposal Review Timeline and Deadline
- Proposal deadline is June 1, 2019. Early submission is encouraged. Submission window will close once all the slots are full.
- Presenters will be notified no later than August 15th via email.
What Do Presenters Receive? The lead presenter will receive:
- complimentary conference registration
- two nights complimentary lodging at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing
- up to a $250 in travel reimbursement
Co-presenters receive complimentary registration.
