LSMRCE 2019 Annual Conference


The Louis Stokes Midwest Regional Center of Excellence conference Building a Diverse STEM Talent Pool: Classrooms to Careers will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 25-27, at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing. This event is co-hosted with the Indiana STEM Alliance and offers students, faculty mentors, educational researchers, and program administrators a platform to exchange knowledge and to cultivate a community of practitioners and scholars in the area of broadening the participation of underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

This year’s conference themes include: Building a Community of Scholars, Leveraging Networks, Mentoring Future Leaders, and Research in STEM Education.

Student Posters
Students currently reenrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program are invited to participate in the competitive poster session. Abstract submissions due Friday, August 16, at 11:59PM ET. Early submission is encouraged. Some travel awards are available.

Bridge to the Doctorate Oral Presentations
Current NSF Bridge to the Doctorate fellows are invited to participate in the competitive oral session. Abstract submissions are due Friday, August 16, at 11:59PM ET. Early submission is encouraged. All selected presenters will receive a travel award.


Registration Rates & Dates:

  • $75 - Student Registration (Undergraduate and Graduate students)
  • $200 - Early Bird Registration (Ends June 30, 2019)
  • $300 - Standard Registration (July 1 -October 1, 2019)
  • $500 - Late Registration (October 2-October 20, 2019)

Registration closes on October 20, 2019. NO ONSITE REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE.

LSMRCE does accept purchase orders for group registration. Please use the following IU W-9, which contains Indiana University EIN and the remit to address.

Cancelation Policy:
We understand plans change. Cancelations received on or before October 20, 2019, will receive a refunded, minus a $25 processing fee. Cancelations after October 20, 2019, are non-refundable.

Call for Poster Judges
We are seeking approximately 50 judges to review and score more than 150 posters. Ideal candidates are fellows, post-docs, and faculty who are researchers in STEM or mentors of STEM students. Judges receive complimentary conference registration.
