Making Impacts in DEI in STEM as a Fulbright Specialist
In her role as a Fulbright Specialist, Denise Y. Yates, Senior Research Scientist at the University of Texas El Paso, traveled to France to build partnerships to afford opportunities for international research for underrepresented minority (URM) students in STEM. The immersive experience resulted in the development of a pilot program that will be launched in Summer 2023 where 20 URM STEM students travel to France to conduct research in a university setting, and 10 Master's level students in France to travel to the U.S. to conduct research. The outcomes of this pilot program will be used to inform how this model can be expanded and reproduced globally.
