Job Description:
Description of Duties:
The University at Albany is seeking a Program Coordinator for The Science Technology and Entry Program (STEP). The purpose of the STEP Program is to prepare historically underrepresented and /or economically disadvantaged elementary and secondary school students to acquire the aptitude and skills necessary to pursue post-secondary degree programs in STEM that lead to professional careers in the scientific, technical, health-related or other licensed professions. The Coordinator must be committed to the goals of the STEP and early career intervention conceptualization. This person will be responsible for curriculum design, implementation and internal program evaluation. The Coordinator will also coordinate the parent activities with the various community partners. Additionally, this person is responsible for maintaining STEP materials for internal and external presentations as well as all required reports and program evaluations. This person will ensure that all STEP participants are serviced and making appropriate academic progress. Additionally, the Coordinator will oversee the STEP offsite Mentoring programs in the middle & high schools, student recruitment, and assist with the budgetary process. The Coordinator will also be expected to oversee the University at Summer Institute's 3 components.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's Degree from a College or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization in STEM, health or licensed profession fields. • Five years related experience in a field of education or education related support services. • Experience in advising under-represented students as well as organizing program related initiatives. • Strong writing, interpersonal and organization skills. • Attention to detail. • Experience working with culturally diverse populations. • Ability to multi-task and supervise in a fast paced and diverse environment. • Ability to travel throughout NYS between project work sites, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation. • A reliable mode of transportation (own vehicle) is required. • Must be able to work on Saturdays and evenings. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with grant writing, annual reports, managing budgets or working in a higher education is preferred.
