Postdoctoral position Medical University of South Carolina Charleston, SC
Categories: Post-Doc/Fellowship
Date: 8/1/2021
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. William Hill for highly motivated candidates who are interested in aging. The lab focuses on stem cells and bone homeostasis. The role of SDF-1/CXCR4/7 axis, and related miRNAs, on osteogenesis in aging is a major focus of the lab. The axis not only has an impact on bone biology with aging, but has implications in many other areas, such as immunology and cancer biology. The lab is also investigating the roles of senescence and autophagy in bone with age in response to tryptophan/kynurenine pathway metabolites and AhR signaling.
Research projects may involve, but are not limited to age-associated changes in the epigenetic regulation of stem cells, in particular miRNAs and their influence on bone loss. These miRNAs target osteogenic cytokines, including SDF-1 (aka: CXCL12), multiple signaling pathways, transcription factors and extracellular matrix molecules.
Successful candidate will have a recent Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology or other related fields. Candidates with prior research experience in miRNAs are especially encouraged to apply. Postdoctoral salary will depend on prior research experience and qualifications.
Applicants from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups as described in the Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity, are courage to apply.
Dr. Hill is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. See attached Biosketch.
Interested applicants should send the following materials in an application packet, preferably as a single PDF file, by email to Dr. William Hill (
