National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Emerging Leaders in Data Science Fellowship
Categories: Post-Doc/Fellowship, Graduate Students
Date: 2/12/2021
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) would like to inform you of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Emerging Leaders in Data Science Fellowship. Please review the attached flyer and spread the word as the
deadline to apply is February 12, 2021 11:59pmEST.
NIAID conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 60 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health of millions of people in the United States and around the world. NIAID is one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
What will I be doing?
Building a workforce with data science expertise is an important step toward addressing NIAID’s data science strategy and research program. NIAID has established the Emerging Leaders in Data Science Fellowship Program to develop a cadre of talented data scientists who have a strong interest in applying their informatics and data science expertise to advance research in infectious and immune-mediated diseases. This fellowship is managed by NIAID's Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies.
As a fellow in the NIAID Emerging Leaders in Data Science Fellowship Program, you will receive training and hands-on-experience in data analytics, informatics strategies and software development to support projects in NIAID's extramural and intramural divisions. The program is rotational in design, you will conduct 3 to 4 month rotation-based projects in NIAID’s intramural and extramural programs. NIAID actively encourages you to participate in a variety of developmental assignments during your fellowship to broaden your perspectives on NIAID's research mission and data science needs, strengthen technical competencies, and further develop your own leadership abilities.
Why should I apply?
You will have the opportunity to network and explore federal career opportunities. The NIH Bethesda, Maryland campus is home to more than 1,000 laboratories where scientists are engaged in virtually every area of biomedical research, so expertise in almost any discipline is readily accessible. Inter-Institute interest groups promote interactions between senior scientists and NIH fellows in different disciplines. For more information about NIAID visit: https://www.niaid.nih.gov/
Where will I be located?
