Eaton Co-Op - Mechanical Engineer - Galesburg, MI

Eaton of Galesburg, MI has a cooperative employment opportunity for an engineering student with a Mechanical Engineering background. The primary function of the Cooperative candidate is to be responsible for assisting in the development and application of passenger car and commercial vehicle power transfer products. This individual will work with senior product engineers to deliver solutions to challenging new product development, product improvements, cost out, and manufacturing plant projects.

    The Essential Functions Of This Position Include:
  • Support Product Engineers in development of new product designs. Perform failure root cause analysis and problem solving within a team to identify and isolate product issues and recommend solutions.
  • Develop detailed engineering materials including technical reports to provide product. documentation.
  • Communicate plans, status, and results to senior engineers and leadership.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, internal laboratories and test facilities to ensure the successful completion of product development and validation testing.
  • Work in a team environment to identify process improvements, product cost reductions, and reliability improvements.

    Basic Qualifications:
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 2.8 Cumulative GPA (Please do not round).
  • Available to work at least 20 hours per week.
  • Must reside within 50mi of Galesburg, MI location. No relocation being offered. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Available for 40 hours/week employment during summer term.
  • Engineering knowledge and experience in product development from concept to product launch and product post launch engineering maintenance.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and failure analysis skills.
  • GD&T knowledge.
  • Knowledge of typical C.A.E. software (Creo/Solidworks, MATLAB, MASTA/Romax, etc.).
  • Self-motivated and possessing a drive for results.
  • Willing and able to work 2-4 years in the role.
